Tell us a bit about your background
I was an investment banker for many years and then was part of a group that launched the first electronic options exchange in the US which had an IPO. I then started to invest in early-stage companies in the FinTech and sports tech verticals.
What would you consider your greatest achievement?
Aside from having a great family- I will be the recipient later this year of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Award of Merit given in recognition of lifelong service and commitment to the University. I am biased but the University is the best in the world so I am very humbled and honored.
What made you interested in joining Qatar SportsTech as a mentor?
The chance to work with new companies doing innovative things on a global basis.
What excites you the most about Sports Technology?
I have always been interested in the business of sports. Technology is changing the way we play and watch sports. The winning companies will be the ones able to innovate and adapt the fastest.
What expertise are you going to support the QST startups with?
I think the most valuable will be the general experience of having been involved with innovation on a global basis for many years.
Any final words of wisdom, that you would like to give to aspiring SportsTech entrepreneurs?
Everything you do as you build your company will be difficult. You must be realistic about those challenges and your ability to navigate them.
