Today, we sit down with Ida Bjerga, Co-Founder & CEO of the creative agency Noise Studio based out of Copenhagen. A year ago, Ida also Founded Nordic Sports Tech to facilitate the growing ecosystem of sports entrepreneurs in the Nordic countries. Qatar SportsTech is proud to have Ida with us as a mentor, helping our startups excel in digital strategy, UX/UI, branding, marketing, MVP creation, concepting, and how to build purposeful digital products and solutions.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What is your background?
I have a Master in Applied Economics and Finance and a digital background – I have co-founded Noise Studio, a creative agency for sports and outdoors, and, alongside this, we started Nordic Sports Tech, a community for people in the Nordics working with sports tech. My purpose with both of these projects is to design and create digital experiences that encourage people to get outdoors and experience the world, actively.
What would you consider your greatest achievement?
In terms of work, I would really say Noise Studio, for a number of different reasons. We’ve founded a thriving 100% remote creative agency with co-founders located in Argentina, North-Europe and Australia working with clients all over the world. We strive to produce visuals and products that exemplify and inspire to an active life, outdoor lifestyle and adventourness by adhering to the collective desire of “chasing curiosity forever and ever”. We are always experimenting and creating design that is somewhat different and slightly offbeat. We trust ourselves and use who we are in our work. And we laugh a lot and do stuff that we enjoy.
What made you interested in joining Qatar SportsTech as a mentor?
Qatar SportsTech aims to attract the world’s best Sports Tech Startups globally and I am excited to be able to work with passionate entrepreneurs and building meaningful products.
I hope to support, connect, educate, mentor and drive the entrepreneurs, at the same time assist them in reaching their goals while evolving the world of sports as we know it. I would also like to challenge the entrepreneurs to “think differently” and to build digital products and solutions that go beyond shallow metrics like shares, clicks, minutes and followers, and start building purposeful products that measure things like personal health, emotion, and well-being.
What excites you the most about Sports Technology?
Like most other industries, sports are being disrupted by technology advancements and cultural changes, and individuals, organizations, teams, and fans are embracing technology more than ever. The Sports Tech industry continues to develop at lightning-fast speed and we’re seeing a growing increase of startups and innovative solutions taking over the traditional ways sports has been consumed and performed. It excites me to see how the market continues to develop and what this will mean for the future of wellness, fitness, and sports.
Personally, the solutions that interest me the most are the ones that get people moving, that make participation in physical activities easier and that triggers behavioral chance. I believe it’s crucial to make people curious about exercising and sports, especially those who are not interested at all, and I believe we can achieve this through sports technology, meaningful design, and effective communication. I find the Sports Tech market extremely exciting as I believe Sports Tech can become a key driver when it comes to getting people active and outdoors and that this particular tech boom will play a major role in discussing and inspiring to solutions to solve the societies physical inactivity crisis. Creating happier, healthier, and more active people.
What expertise are you going to support the QST startups with?
I look forward to assisting the QST startups on digital strategy, UX/UI, branding, marketing, MVP creation, concepting, and how to build purposeful digital products and solutions. Great design and products are all about solving problems, telling stories, creating relationships and making people fall in love with you.
I believe my role as a creative is to support QST startups steer their product from idea to execution, to work together to realize what the product does for the end-user and how we can create a digital strategy out of it. And most importantly create discussions on how to create something that brings meaning to the society and to design for and consider people when creating digital products.
Any final words of wisdom, that you would like to give to aspiring SportsTech entrepreneurs?
“If all your friends and family love your work, you’re playing it way too safe.”
